Adult Basic Education (ABE) & English for Academic Purposes (EAP) - Coon Rapids Campus
Spring 2010
Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are offered for adults who want to study for the GED, or who want to improve their math, reading, and writing skills to be ready for college level coursework. ABE classes are taught by licensed teachers and trained volunteers who will help learners meet their educational goals. Services include reading enhancement, writing skills, basic math skills, and GED preparation. Students wishing to enroll in the ABE classes must first attend an Intake Session on any Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Testing Center. The ABE classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-9 p.m. in the Academic Support Center. The ASC is located on the first floor of the college services building, overlooking the river. For more information, please contact LeeAnn Triden at 763.433.1940. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a free, non-credit class designed for speakers of other languages and students from other countries, no matter what their native language is. EAP is not a basic ESL class. Rather, it is a class to build skills in college-level, American academic writing and vocabulary. Students wishing to attend the EAP classes should first attend an Intake Session on any Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Testing Center. EAP classes are held every Monday and Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the ASC. For more information, please contact Kristen Gonzalez at 763.433.1940.
