AmeriCorp at Anoka-Ramsey

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College civic learning program supports a team of 12 Anoka-Ramsey students who serve as AmeriCorps members through the Midwest Campus Compact Citizen Scholar Fellows program.

The Fellows program improves the academic success and retention of students of color, traditionally underrepresented, low-income and first-generation college students through:

  • Financial support in the form of community service work-study (maximum award of $4,000) and a $1,000 AmeriCorps education award upon completion of 300 – 500 hours of community service.
  • A peer network in which students feel a strong sense of belonging and support and that results in their desire to continue pursuing a college degree
  • Continuous coaching/mentoring of caring and supportive peers, as well as Anoka-Ramsey and community agency staff
  • Professional development and training in leadership, goal setting, diversity and other key skills and abilities necessary for a successful career and civic involvement
